Quinta do Corvo” is situated in a green valley, near the village of Colares in the protected area of the Parque Natural.
The property consists of appox. 3 acres. For centuries, farmers lived and worked here, but now all the buildings have been extensively refurbished and renovated, giving the property several lovely buildings.
Coming through the entrance you pass the gatehouse for the caretaker. The main house is at the very top of the drive way. Halfway up the slope, you will find the rebuilt old farm-house with its stables which are now all converted into apartments.
This complex can be rented as a whole, sleeping a group of max 28. Equally, it can be divided into 7 comfortable apartments or studios, each with kitchenette, en-suite bathroom and terrace or courtyard.
If you decide to rent the units separately, the capacity per unit is 2-4 people.
A continental and sufficient breakfast is served at the apartments which are also cleaned daily.
The garden of the “Quinta “is a unique feature in itself, not to be missed. The owner is a passionate gardener and member of the Mediterranean Garden Society.
Inspired by many garden trips all over the world, he designed the garden with the help of a well known Dutch garden-architect. Now, the garden presents a combination of an English landscaped garden with an Italian formal garden. Therefore, over the last 20 years and within the humid and mild Sintra climate a lush, romantic subtropical place has been created which needs to be explored to appreciate its splendour. Today, it not only houses all kind of animals, such as a donkey, sheep, ducks, chicken, dogs and cats, but also hosts a collection of modern art.
The beaches of the Atlantic coast are only 3 km away, but if you would rather rest and relax without any hassle, guests can use the heated swimming pool of the “Quinta“.
The property is situated on an old Roman road. Now, a footpath, it connects the villages of Colares and Almoçageme, which make a pleasurable walk of 10 minutes to each of them.
In these villages you can find everything you need: local shops (internet) cafe, several typical Portuguese restaurants, the nearest being only 1 km away from the Quinta.
There are also a lot of walking and tracking possibilities in the Serra and along the coast, where the Quinta can act as starting point.
From the main road, only 500 metres from the gate, there is a regular bus connection to Sintra, the romantic former summer residence of Portuguese royalty with old houses, parks and loads of beautiful palaces to visit. On the other side of Sintra and Colares, lies Cascais, a modern seaside resort with a bustling atmosphere, by day and by the night.
